‘__ SHEET OF ALUMINUM__’

Aluminum sheets, also known as aluminum plates, are the result of basic raw-form aluminum being pressed and rolled into panel form under high pressure.

As aluminum moves between rolls under pressure, it becomes longer and thinner, thus resulting in Aluminum Plate or sheets. One of the main differences between Aluminum Plate and sheets is that sheet metal is under . 249” thick, while plate metal is less.

PROPERTIES :

“ Aluminum is light (it’s approximately 1/3 the weight of iron and copper).

“ It has a ductile nature (it’s easy to work into new shapes and can undergo specific treatments).

“ Aluminum is opaque in nature (Opaque materials are those materials through which light cannot pass) and through aluminum sheet light cannot pass.

“ Aluminum has a high rate of conductivity (it has a higher thermal and electrical conductivity).

“ It is resistant to corrosion (this characteristic can be improved with special coatings).

PERFORATION :

Perforating is a process used to establish a flow path between the near reservoir and the wellbore. It normally involves initiating a hole from the wellbore through the casing and any cement sheath into the producing zone.

Perforation of metals means that it has been manually or mechanically stamped or punched using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) technology or in some cases laser cutting to create different holes sizes, shapes and patterns. Perforated metal is also known as perforated sheet, perforated plate, or perforated screen and is commonly made from stainless steel, cold rolled steel, aluminum and more.

ADVANTAGES:

Aluminum sheets used by the food and beverage industry for packaging, and as parts of cookware and appliances, can also be seen. Sheets of this metal can also be used in the form of roofing, gutters, sidings and the like used by the building and housing industry.

Perforated Aluminium Sheet further decreases the weight, making it an ideal material for situations where minimum weight is essential such as:

  •  ventilation panels
  • cladding panels
  •  ceiling tiles

Perforated Aluminium Sheets are easily manufactured and can be cut, rolled and folded with ease. The most abundant metal in the Earth’s crust, Aluminium is relatively soft, durable, lightweight, ductile and malleable metal.

DISADVANTAGES :

  • Roof repair costs for aluminum roofing sheets can be higher.
  • Aluminum roofing sheets are much more expensive.
  • Oil canning can happen
  • Aluminum roofing sheets can be noisy.
  • Aluminum is easier to dent.
  • Aluminum roofing sheets expand more under the heat.
  • Roof repair costs for aluminum roofing sheets can be higher.

APPLICATIONS:

Perforated metal can be used for structural and decorative applications in architecture and design, including balustrades, facades, stairs and screens, and its characteristics allow for creativity with light, sound and visual depth. Perforated metal can be used to regulate light and ventilation within a space. Sheets of this aluminum metal can also be used in the form of roofing, gutters, sidings and the like used by the building and housing industry.

SIZE :

0, H32, H34 & H38. 0.5 to 6.0 for sheet and coil, 0.5 to 3.0 for strip. 900, 1200, 1500, 2000 & customer specific width (25mm minimum).

PRODUCTION :

Aluminum sheets are mainly produced by (United States US) are shipped all over the world. In a process called electrolysis, using negative and positive cathodes made of carbon, the alumina is then converted to a liquid state with the creation of CO2.

This liquid aluminum is then poured into different forms that produce sheet ingots or slabs, which are then used to create aluminum plates and sheets.

The most common method of perforating metal uses a rotary pinned perforation roller. This is a large cylinder with sharp, pointed needles on the outside to punch holes into the metal. As the sheet metal is run across the perforation roller, it rotates, continuously punching holes in the passing sheet.

COST :

In raw materials costs, aluminium is about three times more expensive than steel, while in terms of conversion costs it is about twice as expensive, (Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT) said. And in assembly costs, aluminium was 20-30% more expensive than steel.
