The Visa & Covid-19 Vaccine Story

You may have heard that Novak Djokovic, the Australian Open champion last year, did not return to the 2022 Australian Open. Naomi Osaka is the defending champion in women’s singles.

Novak was unvaccinated against Covid-19, but was granted a medical exemption that allowed him to travel to Australia. The Australian Government refused to allow Novak entry. He appealed, but his visa was revoked again.

Novak received the most attention for the Open Draw Australian 22 because Salvatore Caruso took his place in Draw, who opened Australia Open against Kecmanovic.
