Millionaires tend to lead more fulfilling lives compared to the average person. The interesting truth, though, is that this is not necessarily due to their wealth. A lot of it is the choices they make and how they prefer to spend their time!
There are plenty of ways to enrich your own life by taking a few notes from the 1%. Here are just a few particularly excellent tips and tricks!
Self-Reflect and Recharge with More Alone Time
One of the most important things you can do is spend more of your time alone. This allows you to focus on your well-being and understand yourself at a higher level. What’s more, self-reflection gives you time to recharge, and also prevents burnout.
Taking regular breaks from work and other burdensome responsibilities is an easy way to reduce stress. It’s possible to give it your all and enjoy your hobbies, as well!
Lastly, spending time alone allows you to clear your mind and re-evaluate your goals, priorities, and values. Introspection is an integral part of your progression as a person—it allows you to get to know yourself in ways you never thought possible!
Get Your Exercise On
A whopping 76% of the rich work out for 30 minutes a day. After all, one of the only ways to stay healthy is to exercise regularly!
While you may not have the time to hit the gym every day, you can still fit quick, manageable workouts into your day. For example, you can squeeze in a walk whenever you have a break or do some stretches in the morning before work.
Another great way to burn calories and break away from your sedentary lifestyle is to jog around the neighborhood. This is not only a great form of exercise, but an easy way to get some fresh air and enjoy the sights and sounds of the local area. How fulfilling!
Unplug and Disconnect from Electronics
You may not want to, but sometimes, you should stay away from technology. Turn off the television, leave the phone behind, and spend time doing activities that help you. Science shows that disconnecting from technology can actually improve your mental health!
If you’re not quite sure what to do during your technological downtime, try taking up a new hobby or spending time with friends and family. You can also go out to eat and meet new people or pass a few hours with loved ones!
Start Picking Up More Books
Reading is a perfect way to spend your free time. It teaches you about new things, lets you escape from reality, and relaxes you. There is nothing quite as fun as immersing yourself in a story!
Some of the richest people in the world are avid readers and spend at least an hour a day with a book. Bill Gates, for example, reads almost 50 books a year, or 1 per week!
The best part about books is that there are so many genres to choose from: fantasy, nonfiction, memoir, and even self-help guides that can help you get your life back on track. The options are practically limitless!
Engage in Self-Care Activities
What exactly is self-care? It is anything that you do to improve your health, well-being, confidence, and self-esteem. In short, self-care is making sure that all of your needs are met.
There are plenty of ways to take care of yourself, whether it be by taking a bubble bath after a long workday or visiting the spa for a weekend getaway. You can even restore your wardrobe or get a facelift to restore your youthful looks. Ultimately, how you spend your time and money is up to you, but why not focus on the way you perceive yourself?
Self-care makes you feel good about yourself and gives you the strength to take on the world and all of its challenges. It’s the top motivator for most people, and my number one piece of advice for living the dream!
