A 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s south Sumatra on Wednesday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), the EMSC and the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.
No tsunami is expected from the earthquake, he said.
Indonesia sits on the Pacific seismic “ring of fire” and often suffers from deadly earthquakes and tsunamis.
